i've always heard its a bad idea to sleep with your makeup on for skin reasons, such as acne, rashes, acclerating the aging process etc. anyone know how true this is?
most nights i find myself going to bed without properly removing my makeup, and its been this way since i started wearing makeup back in high school. ive NEVER had a problem with acne or anything like that, but im still young (21 years old) and am starting to worry it may lave long term effects on the aging process. on the reverse side, im thinking its more wear and tear on your skin to be using washes with chemicals to get the makeup off everynight. should i just keep on going on how i am, or do u guys suggest i change my ways? |

you should always wash off your makeup. i wore makeup since i was about 12/13 and unfortunatly i didnt really know that you had to completely wash off makeup before you go to bed. now my skin is f*cked up..i have blemishes and blackheads, which i didnt have before. if you find it hard to keep in a routine of removing your makeup, why not get some wipes? because thats what i normaly use and its so easy and quick to take your makeup off with them when you go to bed!

I have read a post of an aged woman on another board.......who said that she used to sleep with her foundation on face every night from the age of 20 something.......and she told that her skin is in a very good condition because of it........Though in that woman's case she never used to breakout by skin products and maybe you are also a lucky one like her.........well if you are happy with your skin condition you can sleep with your make up on.......
Beside that it is true that cleansing your skin too much does have harsh effects on your skin........but cleansing it mildly helps in making your skin more healthy... Remember every chemical is not harmful for your skin

My sister sleeps with her makeup on, the reason she has never broke out is because her skin has never had a chance to breath. I have seen the result of this and skin that has never had problem has many after cleaning the face at night with no makeup residue which is quite normal the skin is trying to clean the impurities left in the pores. Never sleep with makeup on, nor go to bed with out cleansing your face with or without makeup.

You should remove them as mascara will weaken your lashes........eyeshadow will make your eyes dull......and lipstick will darken them

You might want to think about using a mineral makeup that contains zinc oxide. It is known for its healing properties in problem skin such as rosacea and acne, as well as offers protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. It won't clog pores, and helps to calm and soothe irritated skin, and is water resistant. And it is so gentle that you can sleep in it to let the zinc oxide do its stuff at night.

Does this only happen if you wear foundation? Because I just wear eyeshadow and blush.
