Exclamation Do I Wear Too Much Makeup for a 17 year old?

Okay, this is what I wear.

-foundation(just enough to even out my skin tone.)
-translucent powder(to set the foundation)
-a little bit of Physicians formula bronzer for that sun kissed glow
-one coat of mascara(top lashes only)
-black eyeliner(ONLY on bottom. and i don't put it on heavy)
-and lavender eyeshadow to make my brown eyes pop. (I use it lightly and blend it in really well.)

The reason I am asking this is because I don't want people to look at me and say wow she really cakes on the makeup.

I dont want to look like a clown.

Do you this this is too much or should I tone it down?

I used to wear light brown eyeliner but i really hated it and the black eyeliner seems to make my eyes pop.

THANK YOU!!!

It's difficult to tell without a photo...

There's a lot more factors to take into consideration that you never mentioned, and it would take too long for me to explain them all.

It would be a lot simpler to just upload a photo of yourself.

It sounds like a normal amount, but I suppose it depends on how thickly you apply and how well you blend. There are lots of good ways to make your make-up look more natural, no matter how much you put on! like vogueboy says, it would be helpful to have a photo

welcome to the forums by the way!

Welcome to the forums, I agree with Vogue and Rose the only thing I might add is try using a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation, again this depends on your skin so send a picture and we can help give you some ideas if any are needed.

Welcome! Great to have you with us.

I'm hardly one to judge about too much makeup

That said, it definitely sounds like it's just a question of how heavy you go with what you're wearing, rather than how many products you use. After all, if you didn't wear anything at all, but really dumped on the black eyeliner and mascara...well that would look pretty out of place. OTOH, I am sure vogueboy uses dozens of products to create faces that don't look made up at all!

It sounds like you're mindful about using the minimal amount of each item, in which case you may not have much to worry about

I'd say you may not need foundation but I don't know really lol.

Anyway girls in my class wear lots more than that (14 yrs old) and I suppose as long as you take it off it'll be ok and if it's something like a prom/date/wedding or sometying special wearing more make up isn't bad at all.

-Sounds like your makeup probabley looks alright but do you put that much on everyday? I'm ten years older than you and was lucky to have had pretty skin most of my life; still have it! I guess it probabley won't hurt you as long as you use decent products and are not sleeping in it regularly (I hope you wear moisturizer with an SPF every day/night lotion too). -I think covergirl and maybelline and the like are fine for teens as long as you keep your products clean and do not share masquera (liner is fine as long as you resharpen between). -a lot of younger girls make the mistake of overdoing the liquid foundation when the truth is: very few even need it. -I hardly use it now even. Try saving your liquid foundation for eye circles or blending rosey spots to make more even but do not use all over your face or you will look "cakey" and be prone to breakouts (yikes)! -and paler is better than too tan (you can always use bronzer) . -this will save your skin in years to come and save you time too. -if your foundation comes off on your clothes when your change them; you are probabley wearing too much. -Also experiment with different looks and techniques; a lot of people get stuck at an early age with one makeup routine and over time it becomes out-dated and your friends will wonder why you look exactly the same all the time; find looks for nights out as well as light looks for summer days so you can feel pretty without being bogged down to the same routine or look. -have fun with your makeup
-J.

skip the foundation, use translucent powder. your skin is raw at this age, dont use too much makeup.

Do what you like, live your life...just make sure you take all your makeup off at night before going to bed

my sisters 13 and she wears as much as you. shes way to young for all that your 17 your growing up i dont see it as a problem and long as you know how to make it look good your right black eyeliner makes brown eyes look beautiful. judi was right about the tinted mosturizer it gives you a glow you dont look like your wearing make up and your protecting your skin all day long avon and boots have good ones.
