Maybelline has this eyeliner called Ultra Liner that is waterproof. Its rather hard to take off. Jist make sure you have some vaseline around. It helps to take it off.

Hey Manda,

Try this trick:

Line your eye from underneath your top lashline at the base of your lashes.

The text-book way of lining your eyes is to line on top of your top lashline.

This results in a great looking solid eyeliner. However, with repeated blinking, that once great looking exposed solid eyeliner will eventually smudge.

This is due to that your top lash line has a tiny fold or crease there. And as you blink, that tiny crease, which you have lined, will fold up into the mobile part of the lid. (Sort of like an accordian.)

And throughout the day, the combination of the heat of your eye lid and folding (rubbing), "blinking" will cause the eyeliner to break down. And that "break down" is called a smudge.

"But I apply eyeshadow there, Won't that stop the smudging?"

Good question. No, It merely slows down the smudging.

That's why at the end of the day, your eyeshadow starts to crease as well.

(However, there is a bit more to that as well... another time...)

Having said all of that... If you line from underneath. There is no crease or fold to cause any smudging. Also, the base of your lashes will act as an "anchor" for your eyeliner.

How to do it:

When you face the mirror, tilt your head up slightly, about 45 degrees.

With your opposite hand, flip up your eyelid exposing the underside base of your lashes.

Now, with your brush hand, apply your eyeliner at the base of the lashes ONLY. NOT the flesh part of the eyelid. Very Important.

And of course, repeat on your other eye and continue the rest of your eye shadow application.

It's that easy. And you have a great looking, strong defined *eyeline which will last throughout the day.

*(Yes, I said eyeline, not eyeliner.)

That should do the trick, good luck and have fun.

Good question.

The fleshy part of the upper lid is very close to the cornea and eyeliner fragments could scratch it or irritate contac lenses.

Why?

Because the upper lid is the only part of your eye that wipes your cornea.

That's why it's perfectly ok to line your lower inner rim of your eye because it doesn't wipe your cornea. Hence, it won't scratch it.

Just don't apply ANY liner near or in your tear duct.

Because that will stimulate the duct to produce tears to flush any foreign particles out of your eye... in other words, wash away your beautiful inner rimmed liner.

The editorials you see in magazines are just to showcase and promote the products. Most looks they show are not street wearable to the general population.

This is how it works:

When a person looks through a magazine and sees ads, they look at it for 1/2 second.

If the ad catches their eye, they will look at it for 2-3 seconds and then flip

Now, advertisers know this and they have to pack a lot of info onto an 8x10 page. And to make people stop and take notice of their ad for 2 seconds.

That's why the make-up looks vibrant and cool and wow and ...

That's why the brands have Make-up Artists to make the "editorial looks" more street wearable.

Of course thats pictures...

You were talking about the articles, which is all personal techniques. Which are different from Artist to Artist and there is no right or wrong in applying them.

My technique is all about safety and longevity in wearing great looking sexy make-up, which can easily be taken off at the end of the day or at the end of the shoot.

vogueboy is 100% correct (as usual, I'm finding!) very informative =)

I noticed when I line my top lashline, it makes my eyes *pop* if you know what I mean, they stand out so much more, and my lashes look fuller.

awesome technique!!

I bought Unstoppable smudge-free eyeliner from Maybeline, and it wasn't very un-stoppable... lol it smudged before I was done doing my hair =\ soo I found Styli-Style Line&Seal 24 hour lasting eyeliner, and it's awesome. They also make 12-hour lasting lipliner which I also use.

also, one more thing.. about the magazines. I always used to find myself wanting to be perfect just like all the models in the pictures, but it's an illusion, I use photoshop and do a lot of photo editing, and I'd just like to let all the girls know how easy it is to make someone look *flawless* with some simple airbrushing and editing, so don't let the illusion get you down like it used to do to me! confidence is the key to looking sexy and beautiful

nice tips vogueboy......I'll try that.....I usually wear it on top of my top lash line..but I usually do that If I do smoky eye, so It's ok to smuge becoz It wont be noticeable.....

For other purpose I always wear liquid eyeliner on top of my top eye lash.....becoz it's not easy to smudge in fact, they never smudge on me once they become dry.....n I love to swing it at the outer corner of my eyes.....maybe u should try to wear liquid eyeliner sometimes......

Ouch... You're putting me on the spot...

or should I say Touche...

I apply make up products on myself, including removers and adhesives to find out how it feels, what it does, smells like, texture etc.

So I have a better understanding on how to explain it to whomever sits in my chair.

And no I don't wear it all day... too many to try...

yeah.....you're a makeup artist n u have to know what product is good to use.....that's great, everyone will be pleased in your hand becoz u can explain them well .....

but u dont get me wrong right?......my last post is a bit missleading.....when I wrote....'maybe u should try to wear liquid eyeliner sometimes'...I dont dedicate that to u....becoz I know that u must already know.....

So, if u try a lot....I think u should share your opinion about the products u've tried in beauty product reviews too.......that would be great ........

N btw.....I really dont know what touche mean.....oooow please dont laugh .........what is that mean?......
