Default Fashion magazines do you find makeup tips helpful

Fashion magazines do you find makeup tips helpful? At time I find these helpful but on the other hand I feel a little backwards trying to use the tips. I try the tips first around friends at home see if they were really worth the time. What is the best makeup tip you got out of a fashion magazine?

These are some of the great tips that I've found in Fashion Magazines which I've used and tweaked in my work.

... Very useful and practical...

Some of really great idea's and then there are others that make you Hmmm.
You got to be joking, not all women look like models and some of us require a little bit more help. I think some mags are geared more for teens and pre-teens instead of smart sophisticated adult female.

From Women Today magazine:

The old school overdrawn lips. Overdrawing the lips does NOT make your lips look bigger. It can make you look like a clown. So how do you fake the illusion? It's in the color and the shine. Yes - shine! Start out with a lighter color, think about a nude pink. Look for a shade that mimics your lip color, or is 2 shades deeper than your actual lip color. Apply to your lip line and not a millimeter more. Then add shine. Shine bounces light and gives the illusion of a fuller pout. Try Bobbi Brown's lip gloss. She has a different type of shimmer going on in her lipglosses that makes your lips look 3-dimensional. It truly works.

I think that some makeup tips are really helpful if you're learning to use makeup (like me) others are just hidden advertising where they use the most expensive makeup products they can and using complicated techniques. Here in Brazil, makeup from Lancome, Guerlain, Dior, Chanel, Clinique, MAC and etc are EXTREMLY expensive . Like that: an Avon foundation here costs 13 reais (which is around 5,2 dollars) , a Lancome one costs around 120 reais (48 dollars). And that's because sometimes i get very angry reading fashion magazines...
