I had a make-over with 'the body shop' and I found the girl was really nice, though I'm not sure I would ever wear what she gave me as I had a minor drag queen look. Though to be honest the girl looked almost the same, she was nice but that make-up wasn't.

That same thing happned to my friend at the body shop!

She then gave me all purplely colors, and then wanted me to buy the makeup and and I had a gift card, but she didn't tell me the prices and went ahead and just rang it up. Come to find out I was allergic to the makeup because the powders were so fine they were causing me to cough a lot. It's probably not as bad as it sounds but she didn't seem to care about what I wanted.
Yeah, that's so true and unfortunate,

Y'know, we go to the counter to get a little 'pick-me-up', to feel good about ourselves, a little confidence booster.

And we have an experience just like this one. And unfortunately it leaves a bad taste in our mouths, that we don't want to visit another counter for a long time.

I know it's difficult to try it out again, (I've done the tour myself...), I suggest going to a counter that has a guy make-up artist there and book a consult with him.

We usually have a different visual perspective on beauty and make-up application.

I know a lot of great male make-up artists, some are Drama Queens, yet we all have a LOT of fun and respect each other as people first and as Artists second.

And that's what the Make-Up experience should be... A LOT OF FUN

I went to myer.. i told them i wanted a preppy look. The lady was old and i started to doubt she was knowing what she was doing. When i told her " preppy" she gave me a lecture on how i wasnt a real lady and shouldnt have resorted to doing that. I was in awe.. what was she on about? At the end i looked like a prostititue with all different things on. I told her that i wanted preppy.. she apologized and thought she heard " Prosty". Since it had cost me 140$ she organised for me to have 200$ worth of free cosmetics of my choice and a refund! I now almost dont regret getting it done.. it paid off!

Here's a good example of a Nightmare at the Cosmetic Counter...

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/147713..._of_the_month/

Ok, I hate to admit this... but a few years ago me and this girl did something similar, but not as harsh, to a girl who was trying to buy a mascara. The girl grabbed the mascara walked a few feet away and yelled at the top of her lungs "Bitches!!" and as she turned around and stormed off she yelled again at the top of her lungs "You're ALL Bitches!!!" Meanwhile we were laughing hysterically...

I look back now and think poor girl, that was mean...

I can't really say this has happened to me with make up and counters.
I usually know what I want and if I ask for advice and the person knows less than I do I walk do some research and decide for myself.
Now hairdresser that is another story.

Hehe, I love that program. They do loadsa stuff like that on there. I've never been to have a make-over. I don't really have the money, and I would be way too easily convinced to buy the make-up.

Oh my God Vogueboy-that was too much!!!....but as I watched that little clip, it reminded me of some of the women I use to work with at cosmetic counters in department stores and was in fact the reason I couldn't be in that type of environment any longer.....like get this.......one time a lady who must have been in her mid-seventies came to me for advice on a suitable lipstick and blush and as I was speaking with her, another cosmetician slowly walked by her and whispered loudly "why are you even bothering-it's too late for you"...................my stomach turned-I felt so bad for this poor little old lady...
