Thanks but that would be rainbow colours! Still, they have training in how to apply the makeup, so if I point out the colours I want, it may work.

if it's not within your budget to hire someone, here's a trick u might try. apply ur makeup by candlelight; your skins natural hues, shadows and contours are brought out by candles. try to apply the same colors of make up to match these shades, even if it means mixing and matching some weird colors. this will yeild a very natural look, which never goes out of style. turn off all the lights in ur dressing room and illuminate ur face with candles. be sure and place one under your face and just a bit out in front of you. try to find a shirt that closely resembles your dress as this will make a difference in the way the light is reflected onto your face, and make several trial runs before the big day. it might be helpful to incorporate candles in your ceremony which will cast a radiant glow enhancing your make up. also, don't be afraid to mix and match your products; i have been known to use blush for eyeshadow and vise versa; mascara on brows and even eyeshadow for lip liner. highlight the brigde of your nose and the area just above your brows with a light shimmery color; also the little indention just below your nostrils that gives your upper lip i'ts "peak". it's all just a play on light, and u can make yourself glow by highligting the the shadows and contours of ur face. alittle shimmer in the middle of your bottom lip will make give you a fuller look without making you look like ms. taz from bugs bunny. don't forget your neck and decolletage. ope this makes sense; if you try it i think you will better understand what i mean. good luck on your new life; by the way i'm getting married in nov.

i forget to mention one thing and don't think i'nm trying to advertise for anyone; but i just started using bare escentuals make up and will never use anything else. if ur having a difficult time finding makeup that u like , check it out on qvc.com, ebay,, or bare minerals web. u can get a very nice starter kit for @ $60.oo and it's well worthe the money as it lasts forever. i found a sample kit that included several different colors of shadows and blushes on ebay for @ $30.00 u just use a tiny, tiny bit of this stuff and it's designed to layer different ways. it also comes with a how-to dvd.

After reading your post several times, I tried really hard trying to understand your logic in using candlelight as your main source of light for applying your make-up.

First off, Colour pigments are created and mixed under a “Daylight” corrected light source which reads at 6500 °K (Kelvin) or a CRI 65 (Colour Rendering Index) at the factory, so you get the true colours of your make-up colours.

Now, if you apply your make-up in “Candlelight” (1850 °K) / (CRI 0-18). Your colours are going to read and look like primary colours through an orange filter. Clearly not flattering at all. You might as well wear orange coloured glasses to put your make-up on in a very dimly lit room.

Make-up colours look their best on any skin tone when applied under lights corrected to 6500 °K / CRI 65… Daylight. For example GE’s Chroma 65 Daylight bulbs are the best on the market. You will get true colour saturation of your hues, shades, tones and tints. And you will see the difference especially when blending your colours including your foundation.

Now, those fabulous make-up colours that you’ve just applied will look very flattering under candlelight, as the “warm” glow of the light will warm up those colours and your skin tone.

Light, colour and the human eye are tricky things on what we see and how we see it. That’s why lighting is the most important factor in applying your make-up especially where film and photography are concerned. It will make or break your look. Even for everyday make-up looks.

Thanks again for the tips, I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to do my own makeup, mainly because I've been doing it for 8 years now and I know my own face the best. There are no trial runs in the small town I'm living in and I'm confident I can do a much better job than all the wedding makeup jobs I've seen.

I'm using Liv Tyler (similar skin tone, colouring) as inspiration. Wish me luck!

I need tips on how to highlight my eyes and how to get my makeup (especially eyeliner and foundation) to stay. Sometimes, I use Revlon Skinlights on my cheeks and eyelids, should I use it for the wedding or will it look dated in years to come? Also, I want a natural, enhanced look that'll work for photography.

Thanks!

What time is the wedding? The time of day will have a big influence on the look of your makeup.

We're having the wedding at noon in early April, so it will be slightly cold. The bonus is I don't have to put on night time makeup!

Absolutely! If I were doing your makeup, I would stick with a very natural look. Glowing skin, cream blush in a warm coral, just enough eye liner right on the lash line, to define the eyes...in dark grey (waterproof). A shimmery eye shadow in a very light, neutral tone from lash to brow with a hint of smoky plum in the crease, blended very well. Mascara in brown black (waterproof, of course). Lip gloss in a neutral/warm pink (my absolute favorite wedding lipgloss is by Paula Dorf, called Honeymoon)

I do love natural makeup and aside from the odd sparkly shadow or darker lipstick, stick with it every day. Where can I buy Paula Dorf?
