I was just wondering if anyone fights this problem...year around I have this dry skin right around the sides of my nose and it flakes, it's red and no matter what products I try, it persists. I'm currently on the Isle of Wight, England, where it's really humid and I still can't get on top of it! Any suggestions?? I'm able and happily willing to make my own products if anyone has a great moisturizing recipe.
Thanks! Kathy |

Try a very light facial scrubs, something with very tiny beads, I recommend Queen Helen Oat and Honey. When skin is still damp from rinse apply a light moisturizer to area and we apply thorugh the day.
Continue every two day with the scub on the side of your nose.

Quick questions to you suffer from allergies. this usually is a result of your nose constantly being irritated. Let me know. So I can point you in the right direction.

Try Neutrogena healthy skin, they have a whole bunch of stuff that will help, it's helped me. I used to have that problem too, and I started not scrubbing there as hard and that really helped too! :0)

Ok I'm glad I saw this!I have the same problem on both sides of my nose and under my nose and it really bothers me because I have my nose pierced and what's the point if your nose is red and dry?
But anyhow I was wondering if it's ok to use vaseline on it?I put some on earlier and it feels alot smoother(By the way I have really dry skin) and its not as red...but will this cause problems later? |

Dry skin around the nose is usually caused by over cleansing. The more you scrub the worse it gets. It will take time for the irritation to go away. Use a product that contains ingredients for calming and soothing the skin. A good sensitive skin product would be best. Try something like Sothys Soothing Lotion for fragile, sensitive skin. Good luck.

Cleanse
Generally does best with non-soap cleanser, which may be in a bar or creamy form. Gentle is the key, so look for non-abrasive textures. New ways to cleanse include fruit sugars (beta fructans)and hydrating ingredients. Aloe, cucumber and hyaluronates are in the safe bets category. Exfoliate Mild exfoliation will remove dead skin cells without irritation and allow moisture and special care products to work more efficiently. Exfoliation can be achieved manually, by simply using a wash cloth. Make a compress with cloth soaked in warm water and place on skin for a few minutes. Then use cloth in gentle, circular motion across skin. Enzymes also work well. Choose a gentle enzyme mask meant for sensitive skin. The enzyme acts as a proteolytic to ingest dead cells. Gently remove the sticky residue with warm water and a wash cloth. Exfoliate the skin twice weekly for best results. Stay away from strong acids (glycolic, salicylic) typically used in skin care, buffing granules and clay type masks. here you may find some more tips on preventing dry skin: http://www.jurgita.com/articles-id228.html and it doesn't matter whether only skin around your nose dry, you have to take care of it all, because it means you have somehow damaged it. |
