Ok. Im pretty new to all of this stuff and i feel pretty stupid being here but bare with me.
Ive got a moderate amount of acne and very dry skin, i find most acne appears above my lips and on my forehead. Occasionally in my eyebrows(the worst). I also have pretty dry skin. Ive been looking through the sites but i really dont know what Exfoliating(did i spell that right?) or half of these strange creams clays and other products you all use are for or what... i just want soft skin and much less acne... also for those of you who tan... im pretty pale any advice in that department as well and id be in your debt. thanks Zach |

I can suggest a product that I have hear great results with and that is Vichy Novaderm..http://www.vichy.ca
This product is carried by Shoppers Drug Mart, I noticed that you were from Canada as am I. go to the site it will also give you a skin assessment which you may find help answers some of your questions.

You'll probably get better advice from the others as to how to address the combination of dry skin and acne. My skin wasn't too dry during the acne years, so I used Accutane. I have no idea whether it's even on the market these days - this was longer ago than I care to remember
But my thinking then was that acne was a more serious problem for me than dry skin...so I fixed that first. You may well need to try several different moisturizers to find one that does not aggravate your acne. Different products work well for different people. (My spouse's skin is basically similar to mine, but we have to use totally different products.) So don't get frustrated if at first you don't succeed. As far as tanning goes? Don't. You should definitely be using sunscreen whenever you spend a significant amount of time outdoors. (I use a moisturizer with sunscreen built in.) Yes, it kinda sucks to be permanently fair-skinned. However, the alternatives are far worse: terrible wrinkles by middle age if you are lucky, melanoma if you're unlucky. And in the short term you'll just aggravate your dry skin issues...

Try taking a vitamin e supplement- it's really good for dry skin, and shouldn't cause excess oils. Drink lots of water, as it's good for both moisturising your skin from the inside and flushing out the toxins that can cause acne, and look out for face products that say "for combination skin"
hope that's helpful ![]() |
