Free cosmetics from class action settlement

Anyone read about this? It's limited to US residents who purchased cosmetics from the department store cosmetic companies named in the settlement between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003.

What is the reasoning behind the lawsuit?

I don't know, I'm curious about that myself. The article didn't say. I didn't know anything about it until I read a message someone had posted about it yesterday evening on the Weight Watchers message board (of all places!)

Update:

I stopped by my local Dillards store, where I've bought Estee Lauder and Lancome for years, and they had a table set up at the entrance where the cosmetics department is. I still don't know what the lawsuit was pertaining to, but I did get a freebie. I picked a bottle of Ralph Lauren shower gel. I debated getting a tube of Lancome mascara, but I just bought mascara last week!
